What Kind Of House Are You Building?

Hello Friends,

Hope all is well. This is a great short story to remind us to be mindful of how we structure our lives. We are the architects of our existence. The Universe has blessed with the amazing ability to create our existence with our thoughts.

It is important however to be aware of what thoughts we are sending out to the Universe. Every thought is a piece of the house that we are building for ourselves. So we must ask ourselves, "what kind of house do I want to live in."

OR A MANSION?

When we realize that the choices we make determine the life that we have, we will begin to make better decisions. We will strive to make life better for ourselves and for our fellow man. In everything you do, do it to the best of your abilities. You never know what and who you may affect.

Enjoy this short story. Remember to put forth you best effort every step of the way. You are a awesome person with an infinite amount of potential. Don't sell yourself short. You deserve the best. Many blessings and thanks for listening.

Building Your House

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business to live a more leisurely life with his wife and enjoy his extended family. He would miss the paycheck each week, but he wanted to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go & asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but over time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work, his employer came to inspect the house. Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter and said, "This is your house... my gift to you."

The carpenter was shocked!

What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then, with a shock, we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we would do it much differently.

But, you cannot go back. You are the carpenter, and every day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Someone once said, "Life is a do-it-yourself project." Your attitude, and the choices you make today, help build the "house" you will live in tomorrow. Therefore, Build wisely!

Blog Action Day - Poverty (How Will You Make A Difference)

Hello Friends,

Hope all is well. Today is Blog Action Day. The focus this year is on poverty. Poverty is something that is experienced in every culture in the world. But why is this? One of my favorite quotes that I remind myself of every day is, "There's more than enough for everyone".

The Universe has provided us with everything that we could ever need for our existence on this planet. There should be no poverty. The key is to remember that we are all connected. We all stem from the Source that has always been and will always be. Since this is so, there is no lack for anything.

There are many cases in which people cannot work for themselves because of circumstances beyond their control, such as injury or disabilities. These people have it tougher and may fall victim to poverty. But even in theses cases it shouldn't be so.

We as a global community need to look out for each other. I am you and you are me. Because of this, every time you help someone, you are strengthening the whole. If you see someone in need, help them out. Find a charity that you can volunteer for. There are so many ways in which we can help out our fellow man. A simple smile can change someone's outlook on life and give them the will to live or find a way to better themselves.

Today is Blog Action Day, but this should be something that we observe everyday. Let it become a part of who you are. Practice helping at least on person a day. Anything, no matter how small, will make a difference.

We stem from an all perfect Source, so for every situation, there is a perfect solution. Be still and let the Universe speak to you. It will tell you how you can help the masses.

Have a great day exploring ways in which to reach out to your fellow man. Be creative. I guarantee that you will improve the life of others and yours by being a caring and giving person. Thanks for listening, and many blessings!

Everyone Is God Speaking - Be Polite And Listen

Hello Friends,

Hope all is well. I've been re-reading Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao by Dr. Wayne Dyer. The Tao Te Ching was written by Lao tzu some 2500 years ago. It is a guide to success in life presented in 81 powerful verses. In this book, Dr. Dyer writes an essay on each verse, with his take on its meaning.

I am reading one verse a day and focusing on that particular message for the entire day. That's why I have not been posting as much as usual. I decided to take some time to focus on some areas in my life and attitude that may need changing. After delving into the book, I realized that there is much room for improvement.

I wanted to share the 7th verse of the Tao Te Ching which Dr. Dyer named "Living Beyond Ego". It's one of my favorites because it reminds us of the fact that we are all connected despite how individualistic we have become.

Heaven is eternal-the earth endures.
Why do heaven and earth last forever?
They do not live for themselves only.
This is the secret of their durability.

For this reason the sage puts himself last
and so ends up ahead.
He stays a witness to life,
so he endures.

Serve the needs of others,
and all your own needs will be fulfilled.
Through selfless action, fulfillment is attained.

Lao-tzu urges us to work towards the good of the whole. When we do this, it is not work at all, but rather a free flow of positive energy emanating from everyone. Nature doesn't work against itself. Everything in nature is working in perfect unison and cohesion.

You will never find a bee that feels it is more special than another bee. If you look at an ant hill, all the ants are moving for one purpose. A flower doesn't look upon another flower and feel that it is prettier. No one thing in nature feels entitled.

As humans we allow our egos to cloud our outlook on life with unnecessary worries and distractions. We cling to "things" as status symbols. The watch that we wear or the car we drive define us rather than what is inside. This way of thinking can lead to disaster.

When you define yourself by the "stuff" that you have, you will constantly be chasing for more in order to keep your status high. You also begin to forget about other people if they don't meet your need for status. You may look past the homeless person in need because you can't afford to be seen in their company. Your friends might see you and you don't want them to think bad of you.

It's this idea of feeling special that leads to problems. The fact is, we are all special. VERY special. But none more so than another. We are all equally special. We emanate from the Source. From the One. From God. We are all extensions of something perfect.

God is in everyone and everything. If we could just remember this on a daily basis, life on earth would be so much easier. Instead of everyone looking out for #1, everyone would be helping each other. There is more than enough for everyone with no need to hoard any of earths resources.

Try to see yourself in everyone that you meet. When you do this you will be compelled to be a more compassionate. Understanding that we are all connected will prompt you to help those in need. When we help others we are strengthening the whole. When the whole is in agreement, nothing is impossible.

This poem by Hafiz the Sufi poet sums it up perfectly.

Everyone
Is God speaking.
Why not be polite and
Listen to
Him?

Everyone means everyone. When we keep this in mind, we become much more respectful of the people that we encounter each day. The Source is in each of us. Take the time to listen and enjoy what it has provided for all of us. Have a great day and many blessings!

TAKE A LESSON FROM NATURE!!!
