12 Of My Favorite Attitude Quotes

Hello Friends,

Hope all is well. Here are some great quotes about attitude to think about over the weekend. The attitude that we bring to our daily activities determine the outcome of our efforts. If you go into a situation thinking that you are already defeated then you might as well not even try.

We create our existence with our thoughts. Lets your thoughts be positive. Let your thoughts be progressive. Let your thoughts be filled with love and compassion for your fellow man. This will produce positive results. This will promote progressive action. This will produce a world that is loving and compassionate.

It all starts with your attitude. Your attitude is contagious. Be careful of the vibrations that you are sending out. If you are in a bad mood, it will be felt by those around you. Two things can happen when you have a bad attitude.

1.People will run away from you, because you will be difficult to be around. It's hard to be around someone that is always depressed. It brings people down and if they are not of that same mindset you will find yourself very lonely.

2.You will find yourself surrounded by a bunch of depressed people. People that are habitually depressed are addicted to that emotion. They tend to gravitate towards other people in the same boat. They love telling each other how depressing their lives are.

I don't know which one is worse but both are detrimental to the global human spirit. Make an effort to keep your attitude positive. You will notice that it will start to rub off on other people. If you are positive, those around you will have no choice but to positive or they will go away because misery cannot survive where there is only happiness.

Remember these quotes as you go through your day. Begin to be the person that you want to be. The type of person that others gravitate towards not to speak of how hard life is, but to rejoice in the unlimited potential that is in all of us. Have a great day, and thanks for listening. Many blessings!

“It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else, will affect it’s successful outcome.”
William James

"I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances."

It's not what happens to you that determines how far you will go in life ;it is how you handle what happens to you.

How It Feels To Have A Stroke

Hello Friends,

Hope all is well. A friend showed me this video earlier this week. The speaker, Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor, tells the story of how she experienced a stroke that actually put her into a state of euphoria. It's hard to think that having a stroke could be a good thing, but Taylor paints a beautiful picture that has no inhibitions and prior "hang-ups."

I don't want to say to much about the video because I can't even come close to telling the story as well as she can. Enjoy this video. Listen to the words that she uses and understand that we don't have to suffer a stroke in order to experience pure "bliss." Have a great day and many blessings!

Conceive, Believe, Achieve

Hello Friends,

This is one of my favorite videos. I often watch it to remind myself that, "Whatever the mind can conceive, and believe, it can achieve." Napoleon Hill is the author of Think and Grow Rich: The Landmark Bestseller--Now Revised and Updated for the 21st Century. I recommend that everyone read this book. Even if your aim isn't necessarily financial prosperity, there are some very powerful "life" lessons to be learned from Hill.

This video is Hill speaking about how he came to his decision to undertake a challenge given to him by Andrew Carnegie. The mission was to find the characteristics and attributes that all successful people shared. This was a daunting task. One that Hill himself didn't think he was qualified to do.

Andrew Carnegie taught him the very important lesson of having a thought and then believing that you can achieve your goal. We often have dreams and good intentions but for some reason we get distracted. We let our dreams fade away. Is it because of lack of courage? Is it lack of belief? It is just laziness? What ever it is, nothing will change unless we do something differently.

Enjoy the video. Listen to the words of Napoleon Hill. Remember that all it takes is a thought. "Whatever we think about, we bring about." Take time to meditate on the things and situations that you want in your life. Focus on what you want in your life, leaving all negative feelings and emotions behind. This is the beginning of many great events in your life.

Have a great day, and many blessings!

Children Speak Out About Human Rights

Hello Friends,

Bloggers Unite Hope all is well. Today bloggers all over the world are blogging for one purpose. Human Rights. I am especially interested the basic rights for children. As the song says, "they are our future."

The following are some great videos presented by youthforhumanrights.org. We need to take on the mindset of a child. They have not formed too many concrete opinions. Everything is new and fresh to them. It is this innocence that makes them precious. They are only living for the moment.

Children deserve the right to be able to express themselves. They need the freedom to create. They need the freedom to just play. As adults we need to take responsibility for our actions. We need to be careful with the policies and laws that are being passed that threaten our basic civil liberties. The choices that we make will effect the younger generations the most after we are long and gone.

Allow children to just be. Allow them to use the minds and their thoughts. Don't stifle a child when he or she wants to share with you. That instant could be the catalyst for something big. If you don't listen, that child may never have the confidence to say anything again. Be like a child. Rediscover your innocence. Stop trying to make sense of everything and just...BE.

Enjoy these short videos. There are tones of them, but these were a few of my favorites. Everyday should be Human Rights Day. Make it your aim to do what you can to preserve the basic human rights of us all. Many blessings, and thanks for listening.

Happy Mother's Day

Hello Friends,

Hope all is well. Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful Mother's out there. I just got off the phone with my Mom. She and my Dad were just coming home from a Mother's Day brunch.

I am very thankful for the Mom that I have. She has always been very supportive. Not a day goes by that I don't think of something that she has instilled in me. A few posts ago I wrote about character. This post was inspired by the wisdom that she imparted on me.

She always reminded me that my name precedes me. That is to say that judgments are made based on what others say about you. You may not have an opportunity to make a good first impression, so make sure your reputation is a good one.

She also pressed upon me to be a leader and not a follower. It can be okay to follow, but make sure that you are learning at all times so that when the time comes you will be an effective leader. She did not want me to be led blindly. I was encouraged to grow in every situation.

It's funny. When I go home to visit I feel like I'm twelve years old again. Not that I feel like a little kid, but that I feel so comfortable in her presence. I'm allowed to be myself. I know that while I'm with her I don't have to make a good impression. I know that she will love me for me.

I know there are some parent-child relationships that aren't healthy. That is always a tough situation to be in. Sometimes our parents can be our worst critics. They have your best intentions in mind but they sometimes come across as being too overbearing. Every situation is different but try to understand that they usually have your best intentions in mind.

To my Mom, I say, I love you. To all the Mother's out there, I love you too. Be sure to contact the person or persons that you call Mom. Just call to say hello. A heart-felt "hi" is all it takes to raise ones vibrations. Enjoy the following quotes about the virtues of a Mother and share them with the ones you love. Have a great day and thanks for listening.

Are heard in Mother, Home, and Heaven.
~William Goldsmith Brown

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.

~Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty

Bruce Lee: Be Like Water My Friends

Hello Friends,

Hope all is well. I love Bruce Lee. Not only for his movies but also for his philosophies. He took the view that traditional martial arts techniques were too rigid and formalistic to be practical in scenarios of chaotic street fighting. Lee decided to develop a system called Jeet Kun Do, which had an emphasis on "practicality, flexibility, speed, and efficiency".

Jeet Kun Do is not only a fighting style but also a philosophy. Up to this point, in traditional martial arts, there was a "way." Lee thought differently. He believed that there are many ways to earn victory. One must be flexible, adaptable, ever changing with the situation.

His was "the style, with no style." This is mindset that I like to take. This philosophy doesn't put you in a box. One can be successful in all situations if you apply these principles. One must train oneself to be adaptable whenever a challenge comes your way.

Lee practiced many styles to make up the "no style" technique. We too must study many aspects of life to be well rounded. Begin to branch out and explore new ideas. Don't limit yourself to what is comfortable and easy. Challenge yourself from time to time to learn something new. This knowledge gives you leverage. Ignorance gets you nowhere.

In the following video, Lee talks about being like water. Being fluid. Being able to become the shape of the container. We need to train our minds to be like this. Be as diverse as possible with your learning. Study the good and the bad. Try to get the whole picture. As you begin to develop your brain muscles, you will feel more comfortable in your environment. More confident. More sure of yourself. "Be like water my friends." Many blessings, and thanks for listening.

Your Character Precedes You

Hello Friends,

Hope all is well. "Remember what your last name is." This is what my parents would say to me every time I left the house when I was younger. I didn't think anything of it at the time. I mainly thought that they didn't want me to tarnish the family name. As a teenager, I thought that they were only worried about themselves.

Now that I am older, I understand the principles that they were trying to instill in me. It wasn't necessarily the last name that would be tarnished, but rather my character that might be damaged. When you think of people like Gandhi, Mother Theresa, or Dr. Martin Luther King, there character proceeds them. You knew without a doubt that their actions were going to be noble and kind.

My parents wanted me to build a name in this manner. It wasn't to protect the family name. They reminded me of this daily so that I good build and maintain my own good name. At work there may be "that person" that when you see them coming, you say to yourself, "Here comes trouble". You know from there past actions that they will probably end up in some kind of conflict. This is their nature. They tend to talk about people behind their backs. They constantly try to make themselves look better than others.

Then there are people who seem to brighten up a room. They are well liked. People like to be around them. They seem to emit very strong positive vibrations. These vibrations are so strong that they transfer to everyone they may come in contact with. The character of this person is never questioned, and if it is, they don't get upset because they know that lies can not survive in the light of truth.

Start thinking about how others perceive you. Do they run when they see you coming or do they welcome you with open arms. Are you hearing the whispers of deceit and betrayal or are you hearing the whispers of praise and approval. Your character proceeds you. They say the first impression is important. Will you let a reputation of having bad character be your introduction, or will you let your good character seal the deal before you have even arrived. It's up to you. Many blessings, and thanks for listening.

You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself one.
Henry David Thoreau

Be your character what it will, it will be known, and nobody will take it upon your word.
Lord Chesterfield

Reputation is what men and women think of us; character is what God and angels know of us.
Thomas Paine

Nothing of character is really permanent but virtue and personal worth.
Daniel Webster

The essential thing is not knowledge, but character.
Joseph Le Conte

It requires less character to discover the faults of others, than to tolerate them.
J. Petit Senn

A good name will shine forever.
Proverb

A fair reputation is a plant, delicate in its nature, and by no means rapid in its growth. It will not shoot up in a night like the gourd of the prophet; but, like that gourd, it may perish in a night.
Jeremy Taylor

Sow an act, and you reap a habit; sow a habit, and you reap a character; sow a character, and you reap a destiny.
George Dana Boardman

Talents are best nurtured in solitude. Character is best formed in the stormy billows of the world.
Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
